🌳 Protect The Trees For Winter 🌲
The Monkeys have been getting active preparing the garden for winter. They have been using the leaves from the campus and recycled cardboard boxes to make an insulation layer around the base of our young fruit trees (we have a kiwi and a peach tree as well as many other types of tree, vine and bush).
The children placed the leaves in a layer around the trees and then placed the cardboard on top. The leaves will decompose to give the tree nutrients and the cardboard forms an insulating layer so that the delicate roots survive through the winter. If it snows it’s even better as the snow acts like an insulator too, just like an igloo!
We will come back to the garden in Spring when all the flowers will bloom again and we can plant vegetables!
