Jacqueline Mercilliott
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and have always had a deep passion for learning about other cultures and languages. I earned a degree in Political Science and French, during which I had the opportunity to study abroad in France and Switzerland. Driven by a desire to work in the humanitarian field, I pursued a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas in Austin. This led me to internships with UNHCR in Geneva and Rwanda, where I worked with the Child Protection Unit.
I returned to Texas to work for a non-profit organization focused on the resettlement of refugees, where I provided direct support to newly arrived refugee families and unaccompanied children seeking asylum, eventually becoming the director of the Houston office.
Eager for a career change and inspired by a previous experience working in a school, I earned my TESOL certificate before moving back to France with my husband and two daughters to his hometown of Annecy in 2020.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of teaching to elementary and middle school students, and I’m excited to continue this journey as part of the EBiHS team. I believe bilingual education fosters curiosity, empathy, and adaptability in an increasingly diverse world. I’m thrilled to be teaching Petite Section, where I can nurture a love of learning by creating a fun and supportive environment that helps young children build essential skills for lifelong growth.
