Learning by Discovery

Each year, EBIHS organises special school trips for the collegians which happen during the month of March and May. They are an essential and enriching part of the EBIHS middle school experience, offering learning opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. Research consistently shows that experiential learning, where students actively engage with real-world environments, improves understanding and motivation.

The EBIHS school trips programme began in 2019 with our first trip to Barcelona, and since then has now grown to include Seville, London, Cambridge, and Vienna. These journeys are often the highlight of the school year, not only because they are memorable, but because they bring academic subjects to life. Walking through historic monuments or exploring cultural landmarks allows students to connect textbook knowledge with tangible experience, reinforcing learning in a meaningful way.

Beyond academics, such trips play a crucial role in personal development. For many students, this may be their first trip away from ‘home’. Students learn to navigate new environments with the support of their teachers and peers, thus building their confidence and independence. Immersion in different cultures and languages also fosters global awareness and empathy, one of Ebihs’ core values as an international school. Equally important are the social benefits. School trips encourage collaboration, communication, and stronger peer relationships, contributing to a more cohesive and supportive school community .

In this way, the EBIHS school trips programme is not just an addition to the curriculum; it is a vital component of it. By combining academic enrichment with cultural immersion and personal growth, these experiences help shape confident, curious, and globally minded learners.
