The Grand Bivouac adventure at the heart of our school
Le Grand Bivouac, an iconic documentary film and travel book festival, brings together filmmakers, writers, travelers, and enthusiasts every year in Albertville to “bear witness to the world.”
This 24th edition, held from October 13 to 19, 2025, had a powerful theme: “IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD,” a call for human resistance and the power of life in the face of global excesses.
In this inspiring context, our students played an important role. As last year, EBIHS was one of three schools invited to serve on the jury for the Youth Award for Best Documentary. They watched the three nominated films, deliberated collectively, and proposed their choice. This experience nurtured their critical thinking and debating skills. This year, their winner was “La route” (The Road), directed by Marianne Chaud, which received the Middle and High School Award.
In addition, all 8th and 9th grade students also attended the festival: they watched screenings, took part in workshops, and visited the travel book fair, discovering authors, filmmakers, and powerful testimonials. This immersion offered them valuable insight into social, ecological, and human issues, and raised their awareness of the power of words, images, and storytelling.
By participating in Le Grand Bivouac, our students are not just spectators: they become actors in a dialogue between generations and citizens of the world, strengthening their open-mindedness and responsibility towards living beings.
