Marielle Carlson

Enseignante au collège : Français

My professional career has been punctuated by trips and experiences shared between France and the USA. Born in Lyon, I grew up in the suburbs of Paris. With a degree from Sciences Po in my pocket, completed by a DESS of Letters and linguistics, and passionate about reading and writing, I started my first career as an editor in Paris.

A meeting, a stroke of fate led me to change the bar for the United States. Deeply in love with the language of Molière, I naturally turned to teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) first in Los Angeles and then in Denver. During my last position in a private American school, I had the privilege of sharing my passion for French for 8 years with more than 1000 secondary school students. Of all the audiences I’ve taught, I’m most excited about the adolescent audience. Creating and developing a relationship of trust, listening to them, instilling in them the love of the French language are three pillars of my pedagogy.

In 2022, I changed course again. My husband, my two daughters and I anchored in Savoy to enjoy the mountains. French and American, I am proud of my dual culture and the qualities it has allowed me to acquire: openness, respect for different cultures, flexibility.

Love words, I am also passionate about creative hobbies and the culture of Do It Yourself. When I have a free moment, you will find me in my workshop, where I recycle, upcycle, sew, embroider, manufacture, paint, assemble or tinker things and others.

I am delighted to be working at the EBIHS secondary school whose philosophy is consistent with my values.
