Maria Serourian

Enseignante anglophone en maternelle

My name is Maria and I am from the United States.

I studied French language and literature at university and had the opportunity to study in France as part of an exchange program. This experience not only strengthened my love for France, but also aroused my desire to discover other parts of the world.

After graduating from TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), I worked as an English teacher in South Korea, Corsica and Japan. During these years, I have enjoyed contact with children very much, and it was my experience in Russia as a teacher at an international school that revealed my passion for early childhood.

Inspired by the Montessori pedagogy, I trained at the AMI in Lyon to teach children from 3 to 6 years and then worked as a Montessori educator in France for 5 years.

All my experiences abroad have taught me the importance of open-mindedness, empathy and respect. I am happy to work in a school that shares the same values and offers children a truly international experience.

I am also delighted to discover Annecy and the Haute-Savoie because I enjoy spending time in nature and especially in the mountains and forests. I like to share my love of nature with children by organizing regular forest outings and other outdoor activities such as gardening.

As a teacher, I love creating a rich and stimulating environment that allows children to explore and be creative. I encourage them to develop personal projects that they are passionate about.
