Carter Semple

Secondary school teacher
I am an American educator with over a decade of teaching experience in both the United States and France. I grew up in Washington, D.C., a city that sparked my lifelong interest in history and international affairs.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in History from Ohio State University, I spent two years in Alaska working in civic service, supporting Native Alaskan youth. This experience inspired me to join a year-long teacher-training program, where I earned my certification. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings in the United States, primarily as a Secondary School History Teacher in public schools.
In 2022, I moved to Aix-en-Provence, France, with my French wife, where I taught Cambridge IGCSE History and English at an international school. In 2024, we relocated to the Haute-Savoie region for her work and our shared love of the mountains. I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Education online through the University of Nebraska.
I am a teacher who is passionate about designing student-centered lessons that are accessible to all learners, as I believe this approach best supports student growth and engagement.
