Anne-Cécile Nicolai

Enseignante francophone en élémentaire
I was born in Lyon, where I completed my schooling in a special music program with adjusted hours. I have always been drawn to languages and travel, so I chose to study German. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I spent a year in Germany working as a French language assistant in a secondary school.
Having always wanted to become a primary school teacher, I took the national teaching exam in Paris to join the French public education system. My dissertation focused on the benefits of learning foreign languages in primary school. After obtaining my diploma, I spent twenty years working in the National Education system, where I gained extensive experience with a wide variety of students. This helped me understand the importance of differentiated instruction and fostering student autonomy.
I also worked as a language resource teacher and a mentor for trainee teachers.
Wanting to live closer to nature—and especially the mountains—my partner and I decided to leave Paris and move to Annecy, even though it meant leaving the National Education system. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to give up teaching, which I am passionate about, and I’m therefore very happy to continue my career at EBIHS.
