Learning first aid: an educational and inspiring field trip
A few weeks ago, the kindergarten students enjoyed an exceptional field trip to the Sécurité Civile helicopter base. It was an experience rich in discoveries, made possible thanks to a parent who is a firefighter, whom we warmly thank for this wonderful outing.
Throughout the morning, the children were introduced to how a helicopter works. They observed its different parts and understood its essential role in rescue missions. Meeting the pilot allowed the students to learn more about his job and the teamwork required during a rescue. They also discovered who is on board aSécurité Civile helicopter and the role of each person during operations.
The firefighters then presented the main stages of a rescue to the students. In a very educational way, they explained how to rescue a person in distress, how to use a stretcher, apply a splint, and even bandage a wound. The children, who were very attentive and curious, had the opportunity to ask questions and were impressed by the equipment and expertise of the professionals.
The highlight of the visit: the students were able to watch a helicopter take off and climb inside the Sécurité Civile’s iconic helicopter, the “Dragon.” An unforgettable experience!
This outing raised the children’s awareness of Sécurité Civile professions, developed their understanding of rescue work, and reinforced essential values such as mutual aid, courage, and commitment to serving others. It was an exciting day that will remain in their memories for a long time to come!
