Simen Aaslestad

Enseignant anglophone en élémentaire

I come from the west coast of Norway and hold a Master’s degree in Teacher Education from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), with a specialization in primary education.

Before beginning my teacher’s training, I studied sports science, and I have a strong passion for sports, climbing and general physical activity- something that also influences my teaching.

During my studies, I worked part-time in local schools, which gave me valuable classroom experience and strengthened my passion for teaching. These early experiences shaped my approach to education and gave me a solid foundation for working with young learners.

My master’s thesis focused on critical thinking and philosophical dialogue in the classroom – a topic that reflects what I see as one of the school’s most important responsibilities: creating a space where children are encouraged to ask questions, reflect deeply, think critically, and not only look for the right answer. Fostering curiosity and independent thinking from an early age not only supports academic growth but also prepares students to navigate an ever-changing world with confidence and thoughtfulness.
