Cohesion week: a rich and rewarding start to the school year at the EBIHS secondary school.

Recently, the students enjoyed an exceptional back-to-school experience, quite different from the classic back-to-school weeks where we dive in with no transition into the first lessons and it’s hard to sit at our desks for hours on end, while the blue sky and the sun are still beckoning through the classroom window!
The cohesion week is a key moment for integrating new students, developing team spirit, autonomy, a sense of responsibility, and a desire to learn. This is also an opportunity to discover places near Annecy with their natural environment and human and historical heritage, such as the shores of Lake Annecy, the Bauges and Aravis mountains, and the Glières plateau.

Here are some highlights from this week, experienced with different teachers and speakers, with concrete examples of activities:
- Appreciating the natural environments around Annecy: in the Bauges forests, around Faverges, or even climbing the Plateau des Glières.
- Welcoming new students: the buddy program in each class, sharing meals, and the first nights of the week together.
- Developing a sense of responsibility: cooking a meal for classmates, setting the table, and clearing it.
- Working as a team: during the inter-level 5 C’s Challenge, demonstrate positive leadership and collaborate effectively.
- Breathing and listening to yourself and others to promote a calm and positive school environment by participating in Pilates workshops and social and emotional learning (SEL) sessions.
- Creating and imagining: drawing mandalas with natural elements in Les Bauges.
- Opening up to other cultures: sleeping in a yurt and discovering a Mongolian tale and traditions.
