Jacqueline Mercilliott

Enseignante anglophone en maternelle
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and have always been passionate about discovering other cultures and languages. I have a degree in political science and French, during which I had the opportunity to study abroad in France and Switzerland. Driven by the desire to work in the humanitarian field, I obtained a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. This led me to internships at the UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) in Geneva and Rwanda, where I worked with the child protection section.
Back in Texas, I worked for a non-profit organization focused on refugee resettlement where I provided direct support to newly arrived refugee families and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, before she became the director of the Houston office.
Wishing to change my career and inspired by a previous experience in a school, I obtained my TESOL certificate before returning to France with my husband and my two daughters in his hometown of Annecy in 2020.
Since then, I have had the privilege of teaching elementary and middle school students, and I am delighted to continue this adventure within EBIHS. I believe that bilingual education promotes curiosity, empathy and adaptability in an increasingly diverse world. I am thrilled to teach in kindergarten, where I can nurture the love of learning by creating a fun and positive environment that helps young children acquire skills essential for their lifelong growth.
