Gwendoline Skerrett

Enseignante francophone en élémentaire

Originally from Haute-Savoie, I studied in Switzerland at the Haute école des arts et du design and at the University of Lausanne. My university career in arts and social sciences gave me the opportunity to teach in France for 3 years, applied arts and heritage history, at secondary level.

I then moved to Toronto, Canada, where I taught for 10 years in French-language minority elementary schools. I have become accustomed to working with French, English and allophone students. I then wanted to consolidate this experience in teaching by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Ottawa. Since then, I have regularly attended university and vocational training courses to improve my practice and integrate pedagogical innovations.

My approach to learning includes, among other things, the integration of subjects, well-being and inclusion through educational differentiation in order to reach all students and motivate them to reach their full potential. My interest in nature and hiking also led me to take an interest in outdoor education which offers a rich perspective for critical thinking, creativity and communication.
