Mathilde Mondongou

Co-fondatrice et directrice

From an early age, Mathilde felt a strong calling toward teaching. Alongside her teacher training, she also pursued university studies in English.

After completing her studies, she spent two years abroad: one as a French teaching assistant in a secondary school in Wales, and the other as a translation student at a university in Toronto, Canada. These two experiences enabled her to perfect her English and to teach in bilingual schools in Canada, further reinforcing her desire to work in bilingual education.

Over the next 25 years, she taught in various educational settings: private Catholic schools, international schools, bilingual schools, and across different grade levels. Mathilde is convinced that bilingualism enhances children’s abilities while fostering open-mindedness. Her professional background and deep educational beliefs played a key role in shaping the pedagogical approach of the bilingual school.

Annecy — a dynamic, cosmopolitan region near Geneva — was the ideal location to open such a school. This marked the beginning of a new adventure, shared with Hélène Jager, co-founder of the school. For several years, Mathilde worked alongside Hélène as the academic director, contributing to the development of the bilingual program and coordinating a teaching team that grew year after year.

Following Hélène’s departure in early 2019, Mathilde became the head of EBiHS, with a strong desire to continue developing the school in a harmonious way. She is deeply committed to values such as hard work, effort, sharing, cooperation, respect for others, and openness to diversity — all of which allow every child to thrive in the nurturing environment of the Ecole Bilingue Internationale de Haute-Savoie.
