Our history

The story of the Ecole Bilingue Internationale de Haute-Savoie began in 2009, when, after a detailed study of the region’s bilingual education needs, Hélène Jager, Dale Wells and Mathilde Mondongou decided to create the association that bears the school’s name and open the first two kindergarten classes in September 2010, with 19 children.
With the support of the Annecy-le-Vieux town council, the school moves into premises located in the Parc d’Activité des Glaisins.

The school grows

Given the enthusiasm generated by such a project, the Ecole Bilingue opens two new classes each year, reaching a full curriculum from nursery to CM2 in 2013, with a student body of 150 children.

In September 2013, having outgrown its current facility, the school moves to a new site, Pré de Challes, where 8 classes (4 mixed kindergarten classes and 4 mixed elementary classes) are housed in brand-new premises with full facilities (gymnasium, school restaurant).

A second campus opens

In light of the school’s growing success, and again with the support of the municipal authorities, the Ecole Bilingue finds new premises where it will eventually be able to accommodate a complete Primary cycle. A building is fitted out to the school’s requirements for September 2015, and welcomes 2 kindergarten classes and a first grade class. In 2016, 3 additional classes are opened, followed by a fourth in 2017.

In June 2017, after having been a pilot school, EBIHS is awarded the first Quality Label for independent private schools, which attests to compliance, in all areas related to school life (administrative, logistical, security, but also educational), with processes aimed at continuously improving the quality of welcome and education.

The Secondary School is officially recognized as a “Cambridge school” as of 2020, which attests to the quality of its English program.
In September 2020, the two schools are reorganized and occupy two sites: one for kindergarten and CP classes, and the other for elementary classes.

In September 2024, the college moves closer to the primary school in the PAE des Glaisins, and opens two sixth-grade classes. It will continue to add a second class for each level at the start of each new school year, up to 9th grade.
