Jane Sceales
I grew up in London and developed a passion for teaching from a young age, having qualified as a sailing instructor at 16. I spent much of my youth on the south coast of England, enjoying water sports and the beauty of the countryside.
Since then I have taught sailing and English in the UK, America, France, Ireland and Sri Lanka. I enjoy reading and sharing stories from around the world with my students. I studied English and obtained my BA in Belfast and then completed an MA in Publishing at University College London. I worked in children’s publishing in London, striving to encourage a love of reading in the younger generation.
My work in children’s publishing, combined with my experience of teaching sailing, led me to pursue a career in teaching. I completed a postgraduate degree in education and started teaching English in a school on the Isle of Wight.
I then moved to Morzine, the ski resort, in September 2019. Since then I have spent my time teaching English, and in my spare time skiing and walking my dogs.
I am passionate about developing trusting relationships with students and creating a motivating and positive classroom culture.
