Gwendoline Skerrett

Primary school French teacher

Originally from Haute-Savoie, I studied in Switzerland at the Haute Ecole des Arts et du Design in Geneva and the University of Lausanne. My academic background in Visual Arts and Social Sciences allowed me to teach Applied Arts and History of National Heritage, at the Secondary Level.

In 2012, I moved to Toronto, Canada. I taught for ten years in Francophone schools. As a result, I familiarized myself with working with French-speaking, English-speaking, and students who speak neither language. I then wanted to consolidate my teaching experience by obtaining a Bachelors of Education degree from the University of Ottawa. Since then, I have regularly done professional training and taken university courses to improve my practice and learn more about pedagogical innovations.

My approach to learning encompasses, among other things, subject integration, emotion and social well-being, and inclusion through differentiation to reach all students and motivate them to achieve their full potential. My love of nature and hiking also led me to take an interest in outdoor education, offering a rich perspective for critical thinking, creativity, and communication.
