Christine Kent
I was born in Manchester, England, a city of which I am very fond, in an area of rich countryside and copious amounts of rain.
I had a very active childhood, constantly outdoors experiencing the seasons and enjoying the risk of climbing trees, horse riding and gymnastics. One of my family’s favourite holidays was to get away for the weekend, camping in the hills of Wales. A wonderful way to relax and learn about the natural world and despite the sea being quite chilly, we all went in anyway!
I attended Lancaster University and gained a degree in Theatre Studies, during which I worked within the backstage department dealing with lighting and sound production. This fast paced, demanding environment required attention to detail and a love of theatre production, as well as an ability to improvise and problem solve quickly.
Having previously completed a TEFL qualification and spending some time in Italy tutoring English, I moved into teaching many years ago. I gained Early Years Teacher Status which is a comprehensive study of early years teaching theories and practise. I have experience working with all ages ranges between 0 and 5 which gives me an excellent overview of child development. I believe it is important that children feel welcome, safe and happy within their school environment. I seek to give them the stable foundation and self-confidence to develop at their own pace, using their own inherent fascination with anything and everything around them. I endeavour to enable children to be active learner through trust and respect, and by providing them with an enriched environment in which they will be drawn to stretch themselves further and discover something new every day.
Whether this be factual, tangible or emotional, it is all valuable to the child.
