Yoga with the Elephants
The Grande Section Elephant class visits the gym everyday for a half hour of motricity. Each lesson, the students warm up by participating in a group dance. After dancing, the Elephants stretch by practicing various yoga positions. Some student favorites include the rock, turtle, cat, downward dog, and dragon. After stretching, the students participate in an activity which is then followed by a cool down of yoga breathing. The “bear breath” entails the students imagining they are a hibernating bear. Students go inside their cave by closing their eyes and putting their hands on their bellies. The class focuses on feeling the breath going in and out, imagining a balloon inflating and deflating.
