Let’s Climb!

Gross Motor Is Important!

The CP Class on the climbing frame.

At EBiHS we are careful to provide learning opportunities for every area of development. We focus on academics, pencil grip and handwriting but also remember that whole body coordination and strength is essential for success.

The Maternelle school has installed a climbing frame in the playground that is excellent for the children to exercise their gross motor skills and build their core muscles, as well as engage in self regulated risky play.

We observe the children climbing (building their finger strength), jumping from height (practising risk assessment), sliding (building visual acuity and tracking) and mounting stairs one foot per step. All these skills will help them develop their learning in the classroom as well as their self confidence and social skills.

Obviously, it is also hugely good fun from the Petite Section to CP!
