Exploring Fall with the Elephants

Exploring Fall with the Elephants

During the last two weeks, the Elephant class has been discussing and exploring Fall.  Last week, we cut open some giant zucchinis to collect and count the seeds.  We are letting the seeds dry in our classroom so we can plant them in the Spring and (fingers-crossed) have some zucchinis to eat before the end of the school year!  This week, we explored apples.  We used magnifying glasses to examine the parts of an apple: skin, core, seeds, flesh and stem.  We also completed an experiment to see what happens to cut apples when left in different liquids overnight.  Check out our results!  Next week we will conclude our exploration of Fall by examining pumpkins,  making jack-o-lanterns and dressing up for Halloween!
