Cohesion Week in the Mountains
The 5èmes arrived on the Monday of Cohesion Week excited to see their friends and tackle the steep ascent of the Mont Veyrier. Blessed with fantastic weather, they ascended 600 metres to reach their lunch spot and enjoyed the beautiful views over Lake Annecy.
The team spirit continued over the following days and more camaraderie was shared while hiking the Parmelan. Led by the guide, Olivier Dunand, the 5èmes were able to learn about the surrounding nature and the particular rock formations of the Parmelan.
The students also had the unique experience of spending the Tuesday night in the Parmelan Refuge. As the sun set, the changing colours of the skies over the Mont Blanc range is certainly an image that won’t be easily forgotten. The guide shared his knowledge of the constellations and quizzed the students on our stars and planets.
The following day, the 5èmes learned to navigate the rocky terrain on the descent, and were regularly rewarded by snacking on the numerous blackberry bushes growing alongside the path. Water bottles were filled at a clean spring in an idyllic village found at the foothills of the mountain, and the students learned about the architecture of the traditional farmhouses of the region.
The students demonstrated independence and perseverance; qualities that continued to be explored throughout their sporting activities with Miss Dwight and the SEL workshop with Miss Marinoni.
Well done to the 5èmes for their commitment and the support shown towards their peers! The Cohesion Week proved a great success.
