Chinese New Year with the Koalas

Chinese New Year with the Koalas

This period, the Koala class has been learning all about China.  After reading the story ‘Dragon Dance’, the children discussed how they would like to do to celebrate Chinese New Year in our class. The students had great ideas and we had great fun with their activities. Students practised their calligraphy skills, created Chinese lanterns and made a firework display! We also had a ‘feast’  and tasted lots of different Chinese food, just like in the story!

The class was also very lucky to have a visit from Karl’s Mum and Au Pair. We learned all about their experiences of Chinese New Year in Hong Kong and Taiwan. They showed us lots of things from China and helped us to make and decorate red envelopes to share with our family.
