A Walk Through Time with the CE1s
Students in CE1 have been learning about the notion that time is irreversible and with that, people, objects and technology are constantly evolving.
Students interviewed an older relative to discover what life at school was like when they were 7 or 8 years old. Most interesting were the responses to the question; “What would happen when a student misbehaved at school?”. The most common answer was that their relatives would have to sit in the corner of the class with a donkey cap on or would be hit on the fingers with a ruler; life has truly evolved!
Students also had to choose an object and show how that object has evolved over time, presenting it to their classmates. There were many unique objects chosen, from street lights and sewing machines to skis, airplanes and telephones. The students did an excellent job of researching and presenting!
